How is FRRO jurisdiction decided?
By where you are staying in India — not your port of entry or where your visa was issued. Each state and union territory is assigned to one of the 15 FRRO offices; Kerala and Uttar Pradesh are split at district level.
Which states are split between FRROs?
Kerala is split three ways: the northern districts go to FRRO Kozhikode, the central districts to FRRO Kochi, and the southern districts to FRRO Thiruvananthapuram. In Uttar Pradesh, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) and Ghaziabad fall under FRRO Delhi while the rest of the state is under FRRO Lucknow.
What if I move cities during my stay?
Your jurisdictional office follows your place of stay, so a long-term move can change it. Update your address through the e-FRRO portal; your records then sit with the office covering your new location.
Did jurisdictions change recently?
Yes — in November 2025, Guwahati became a new FRRO (taking Assam from Kolkata), Jaipur took Rajasthan from Delhi, and Chandigarh took Haryana — including Gurugram — from Delhi. Older guides that predate this realignment point to the wrong office.
