The Bureau of Immigration does not publish visiting hours for FRRO offices, and third-party listings conflict — so we don't list one. In-person visits generally happen only when the e-FRRO portal instructs you to attend; confirm timing through the portal or the contacts above before travelling.
The office is now at Kendriya Bhawan, Aliganj — the older Hind Nagar (Kanpur Road) address is outdated. BoI's update of 16 September 2026 also extended Lucknow's entry to Gautam Buddha Nagar and Noida, which FRRO Delhi's entry still lists too — see below.
What FRRO Lucknow handles
The core services are the same at every FRRO — what changes is who they apply to. At this office that means foreign nationals staying in Uttar Pradesh, including Noida (also listed under Delhi). For each service below, we handle the paperwork end to end:

How to apply — start online, not at the office
Since 2018, FRRO services run through the official e-FRRO portal. You visit the Lucknow office only if the portal or the office asks you to appear. If your visa has already expired, the service to look for is an exit permit through FRRO Lucknow, not a registration or an extension.

Create an account on the official e-FRRO portal (indianfrro.gov.in) and select the service you need — registration, extension, exit permit, or another service.

Upload your documents (passport, visa, photograph, proof of address in India, and purpose-specific documents) and submit the application online.

Track the application status on the portal. Most cases complete without any office visit.

Attend FRRO Lucknow in person only if instructed — bring originals of everything you uploaded.
Registration deadlines: foreign nationals on visas valid for more than 180 days must register within 14 days of arrival. Since June 2026, those on visas of 180 days or less who intend to extend must register before completing 180 days of stay. OCI cardholders and children under 12 are exempt. Which areas does FRRO Lucknow cover?
FRRO Lucknow covers Uttar Pradesh, including Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), except Hindon Airport on the Bureau of Immigration's current jurisdiction list (verified September 2026).
Which parts of Uttar Pradesh does FRRO Lucknow cover?
Uttar Pradesh. Since BoI's 16 September 2026 update, its entry reads "Including Gautam Buddha Nagar and Noida, except Hindon Airport". Before that update, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad sat with FRRO Delhi, and Delhi's entry still names both. If you live in either district, file on e-FRRO with your address and check which office it is routed to.
Has the FRRO Lucknow office address changed?
Yes — it now operates from the 12th floor of Kendriya Bhawan in Aliganj. Older listings showing Hind Nagar on Kanpur Road are out of date.
Which FRRO covers Varanasi, Agra or Kanpur?
All three are under FRRO Lucknow, which covers Uttar Pradesh; only Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad are listed under Delhi as well. Varanasi and Agra see steady long-stay Student and Research visa traffic.
I am in Noida — do I file with Lucknow?
Possibly — BoI's list currently names both offices. Since its 16 September 2026 update, FRRO Lucknow's entry includes "Gautam Buddha Nagar and Noida", but FRRO Delhi's entry still lists Gautam Buddha Nagar too, as it did before. File on the e-FRRO portal with your Noida address, which routes the application, and check which office it goes to before planning a visit.
Do I need to visit the FRRO Lucknow office in person?
Usually not. Since 2018, applications are made online through the official e-FRRO portal, and you attend the office only if specifically asked to — for an interview, verification, or an exceptional case.
